Everything we could have dreamed of and more!

We booked Villa Rouge almost 2 years ago for our recent wedding just from the photos and descriptions online and have to say our expectations were not only met but exceeded. The villa itself is absolutely stunning and with the additional renovations in the barn and orchard area it was the perfect location for our wedding celebrations. All in there were 50 guests on our special day, with 14 of us staying for the week, and everyone commented on how beautiful everything was. The way the villa is laid out with the pool area and orchard just down a few steps it meant our family of 14 never got in each other’s way and there were plenty of quiet spaces to disappear to when you wanted a bit of quiet, although we spent most of the t8me around the pool area basking in the gorgeous sunshine. The location is surrounded by stunning views and is easily accessible to neighbouring villages and towns (we hired cars which meant we could get out and explore when we weren’t relaxing by the pool), and only 25 minutes drive from Carcassonne airport. More so for us it was Katarina and Jonathan who made our time here so special. Katarina organised everything for our special day and we honestly couldn’t have done it without her. Both Katarina and Jonathan are so welcoming that you start to feel like old friends and we would not hesitate to recommend them and their beautiful villa to others (we will definitely be back).

Wedding at Villa Rouge

We got married at Villa Rouge in June and safe to say, it fulfilled our expectations and was the best day of our lives. When deciding where we wanted to get married we were initially unsure, however on visiting this beautiful venue the decision was made before we had even finished looking round. Katerina and Jonathan were fantastic hosts and organised the wedding to make it exactly what we wanted (despite us having some pretty challenging requests – real ale being one of them). The pre-wedding weekend in France allowed us to iron out any uncertainties and be talked through the weekend rental and wedding day step-by-step. We had what we thought was a last minute hiccup with our evening music but Katerina was so calm and confident that we would be able to organise an alternative band – she started asking around for us that very evening, and a (very successful) alternative was sorted by the end of the week. Just one example of how helpful Katerina was! The day itself was fantastic – everyone fell in love with the venue, and the staff were so conscientious – working hard to keep our glasses full and the venue tidy. The following day, after a leisurely get up we found that outdoors had been completely cleaned and the venue was back to its pristine condition ready for a relaxing day by the pool. The feedback from our friends and family was all positive. It was such a success - Villa Rouge, Katerina and Jonathan certainly made it a weekend no-one will be forgetting in a hurry. Highly recommended, difficult to fault

We had a fantastic 2 week holiday in August 2017. In total we were 3 families, 13 in total, and the house easily accommodated all of us, without us ever feeling we were getting in each other’s way. The luxury and quality of the facilities exceeded our expectations ; we lacked nothing and ended up spending more time eating and relaxing at the property than we would have imagined. When we did manage to extract the children from the swimming pool, we found plenty of places to eat very well in the surrounding villages/towns. Historic Carcassonne is relatively easy to reach, as are some fantastic beaches around the Narbonne area. So in summary this holiday had it all : spacious and very pleasant accommodation, fantastic pool and facilities, great beaches and other places of interest, good places to eat, and of course the ever-reliable weather of the South of France.

Amazing wedding and beautiful villa!

We held our wedding at Villa Rouge and it was one of the best days of our life. We're hugely grateful to Jonathan and Katarina for allowing us to host our wedding there, and for all the effort and hard work on their part in making the day such a success. Not only did we have the most amazing time, but all our guests (80 in total) were hugely complimentary about the venue and the wedding itself - with many commenting it was 'the best wedding they'd ever been to'! After the wedding, we stayed at the villa for an extra week with family. It was a lovely stay and the villa itself was everything (and more) that we needed. It was great to have different areas (house, pool, garden etc) as despite having a full house we never felt we were on top of each other. The best part of the house is the huge pool and bar area - we spent pretty much all our time there. And the views - well they're just breathtaking! We're already thinking of an excuse to go back.

A perfect Mediterranean villa holiday

A nice easy trip from Carcassonne airport, about 20 minutes. The countryside surrounding Villa Rouge is stunning, vines and swaying barley meet mountains at the horizon. The region is famous for its wine and its Route 20, several very good vineyards are very close by, a few within easy walking distance! The villages of Fabrezan and Ferrals-les-Corbières are within a 10-15 minute cycle or a few minute’s drive, they are well serviced by . The villa, set nicely away from the road behind electric gates, we enter a large driveway lined with flower beds and mature trees. The villa is a traditional old farmhouse that has been renovated and modernised to a very high standard, very high quality materials and workmanship throughout. There is lots of space! Big bedrooms and bathrooms a mixture of en-suite and separate on each floor all meticulously decorated in a Moroccan/Mediterranean style. There's even a pool table, I couldn't resist a few competitive frames :D A couple of large kitchens means that more-or-less anything can be prepared here, big fridge/freezer with ice maker was very useful for us. Plenty of cutlery/plates et.c. for 10+ people and a dishwasher to keep it all clean. Of course, there is also a swimming pool, perfect to cool off from the roasting heat of the sun. The crystal clear pool, treated with bromine rather than chlorine, much nicer to swim in. There is a solar heated shower and plenty of towels. In the pool area is also a barbecue stove that uses wood to create a flame cooked barbecue, we did use this to host a party for 20+ people. Next to the barbecue area is a fridge/freezer, perfect for cold drinks and ice creams. Also a sink and dishwasher to clean the plates et.c. A couple of very large tables and plenty of chairs with good lighting means we could cater for 20+ guests one night, with wine, barbecue, gateaux, cheese... There is good wifi coverage with separate wifi zones to cover the main house and the pool area. Beyond the splendour of the villa, there are plenty of historic castles to visit, vineyards to taste, local food to eat, seaside to admire, that you'll find a week is nowhere near enough :) Definitely recommend a stay here for at least a week.

We spent a week at this beautiful villa. Two families with children from 11-17yrs and our father. You couldn't ask for more. We barely left the villa! With perfect views over the surrounding countryside, the pool and its very well equipped pool kitchen area including dining table that seated all 9 of us comfortably and could of seated 12, the villa kitchen area with all the items you could need and more, mountain bikes in the garage if wanted and a pétanque pitch in the lower garden. It was perfect for a week of relaxation in the sun. The whole villa has been furnished to a very high standard, more than worthy of its 5 star rating and has a lovely colour and theme running through it even though all the rooms have their own design and style, it still keeps a lovely Mediterranean theme that helps to remind you that you are on holiday and continually instills that relaxed frame of mind. The electric gates at the driveway lead you down a well maintained garden area to the front of the villa with its table and chairs at the edge of the front garden drive area that looks out over the pool area and the wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and the large outside dining table and chairs on the front porch area which was perfect for breakfast al fresco in the morning sunshine. We couldn't fault the villa and its contents to at all and will definitely be looking to return again next year.

We spent a lovely relaxed week at Villa Rouge with my wife's sister and family. A lovely time had by all. Couldn't ask for more. Pool kitchen area was great and meant you could spend the whole day relaxing by the pool and not need to venture to the house for any supplies. The billiard room was great for the children to enjoy some time out of the sun and for an early evening chill time. Wifi by the pool and in the house was enjoyed at times by the children and adults and allowed contact back to home if needed and to help the kids stay in touch with modern socialising. Looks like some work is to be completed in the bottom garden just past the pétanque pitch but the villa already offers all that you could need. Very high standard and quality throughout the villa and grounds. We will definitely be looking to return next year. Perfect for a relaxing week away to re-fuel from the usual day to day of work etc in the U.K. Highly recommend.

Perfect Family French Getaway

Our extended family (3 adults and 4 older kids) stayed here for a blissful week of relaxation and family fun. The villa is furnished and decorated to an impeccably high standard , in a wonderful Morroccan style - everything really has been thought of. The pool area is the perfect location for a day of family fun and frolics in and out of the water, however if you need to escape for some peace and quiet there is plenty of areas to choose from. The outside kitchen and BBQ was used almost daily for big family meals. The kids made use of the Pool room in the house daily when escaping from the heat of the sun. On the one evening we had rain - the large dining room was perfect for our family meal. All in all a five star villa! Hoping to return again next year! 😃

Family fun in the South of France!

Our extended family had a wonderful time at Jonathan's beautiful house. It is as beautiful and well-appointed as described. The house is very comfortable and very clean. Each floor has a toilet and bathrooms with walk-in showers. The architecture, lighting and decor are exquisite yet welcoming. The double kitchen is well equipped. The appliances all work beautifully and the manuals are at hand. It was easy for our large group to prepare meals and clean up after. There is a generous supply of dishes, cups, glasses, silverware, cooking utensils. The property has many spaces where we could gather -- the kitchen opens onto the patio, the living room has a big table for games, the patio has two seating areas. The pool is large enough for three swimmers to race across the length. We watched the Perseids meteor shower from the lounge chairs by the pool. Dark sky, excellent! There are two wifi's -- one in the house and one at the pool. The one at the house is strongest in the living room. Get onto the wifi in the living room or the patio outside the living room. The pool wifi worked great. Although the host was not present, Jonathan responded quickly to any questions. He left ample useful guides and information to the many ancient sites nearby. We went to Villa Rouge Termenes two times for the pate and the pear juice, delicious! There are villages close by with epicerie, patisserie, boulangerie. Supermarkets are an easy 20 minutes away. For those unacquainted with the Mediterranean countryside, windows and doors are not screened. Leaving doors open makes for good sleeping in the hot summer. The occasional flying insect finds its way in. This was not a problem for us. A neighbor cat likes to visit. Our family had a wonderful time together, due in no small measure to Jonathan's house. The property and the house invite conviviality and private time as well. Would we return, yes indeed! Do we recommend, yes indeed!

Perfect holiday

What a fantastic villa and holiday. Great for our group of 3 families with children under 11. Villa has lots of space and beautifully decorated throughout with excellent facilities. The pool is amazing, great size and suitable for all abilities, including completing some lengths! Pool Kitchen, bar and covered table area made for some memorable long lunches. So much to do locally, excellent bikes available to explore and villa surrounded by vineyards. The view alone is almost too perfect to be true, - classic France. Outdoor table tennis table, indoor billiards table - something for all ages. Friendly local boulangerie happy for large orders, lots of supermarket and shopping options in Fabrezan. Villa is easy to get to and therefore to explore the local area from Mountains, to Beaches, Castles and even Barcelona felt possible...! Five Stars.
